Толстого 358 Высокая частотность употребления лексической единицы ‘ gerrymandering’ (30) и ее производных ‘ gerrymander’ (9) и ‘gerrymandered’ (5)) (‘ the dividing of a state, county, etc., into election districts so as to give one political party a majority in many districts while concentrating the voting strength of the other party into as few districts as possible’ [Dictionary.com]) позволяет сделать вывод, что данный фе- номен неразрывно связан с анализируемым нами понятием в контексте предвы- борной кампании в США: ‘ The system of government put in place by the Constitution is broken in all sorts of ways, subject to forms of corruption, political decay, and anti-democracy measures that include gerrymandering, the filibuster, campaign spending, and the cap on the size of the House of Representatives.’ В текстах критических статей ‘ gerrymandering’ относится к проблемам, с кото- рыми сталкивается демократическая система, являясь политической угрозой для объективного выражения воли большинства избирателей: ‘ In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the case that overturned Roe, Brett Kavanaugh issued a concurring opinion in which he argued that the Court was merely restoring “the people’s authority to address the issue of abortion through the processes of democratic self-government.” Pepper said of Kavanaugh’s concurrence, “It’s so disingenuous—total gaslighting. Many statehouses no longer have representative democracy. Because they’ve been gerrymandered , they don’t reflect the will of the people.”’ Важным элементом вербализации понятия «демократическая система» является лексическое поле «выборы»: voting (vote, voter), election, legisla- ture, (partisan) gerrymandering, (partisan) redistricting, district, veto-proof super- majority, the primaries, plebiscite. К понятиям, связанным с «демократической системой» в рамках проанализированных критических статей, также относят- ся: politics, people, government, senate, party, republican, democrat, majority, legislature, right(s). В проанализированных текстах были обнаружены контекстуальные сино- нимы понятия ‘ democracy’ : isonomia (equality of political rights [Dictionary.com]), egalitarian impulses (asserting, resulting from, or characterized by belief in the equality of all people, especially in political, economic, or social life [Dictionary.com]); self-government (control of the government of a state, community, or other body by its own members; democratic government (Collins Dictionary)), the government of themselves, a government “by the people.” Таким образом, при вербализации понятия «демократическая система» в современных критических статьях актуализируются установки авторов тек- стов, подверженных влиянию экстралингвистических факторов (например, вы- боры). Вследствие чего, понятие рассматривается через призму процессов, свя- занных с текущей политической ситуацией. Литература 1. Ледяев В. Г.
