The Faculty of Russian Philology and Document Science
1) General information about the department, the year of foundation
The Department of Russian Philology and Document Science was founded in 1938 as a part of the Department of History and Philology, and then in 1979 it became a separate department and was renamed first to the Department of Russian Language and Literature, then in 1995 to the Department of Russian Philology and finally in 2008 the department was renamed to the Department of Russian Philology and Document Science. There are two sub-departments: sub-department of Russian language and Literature and sub-department of Document Science and Russian Language Stylistics. At the present time 429 students study at the department.

3) Facilities
There are multi-purpose specialized classrooms and advanced facilities and resources at the department. At the present time the teaching and learning activity takes place in the classrooms with modern teaching equipment and access to the global Internet.
4) Staff of the Faculty
The faculty of the Department of Russian Philology and Document Science is represented by highly qualified specialists who regularly take part in further trainings. Among the teachers of the department there are 5 Doctors of Science and 17 PhDs.
5) Achievements of the Faculty
The faculty of the sub-department of Document Science and Russian Language Stylistics won a grant from Russkiy Mir Foundation to conduct a meeting of Russian language and literature teachers (with native Persian) in Tehran, Iran. Teachers of the sub-department delivered a course of lectures and conducted further training for the teachers from Colombia, Serbia, Japan and Finland throughout the “Russian@edu” project. Also the faculty of the sub-department made a course of lectures “Russian Language Lexicology” for Online Learning Platform “Universarium”.
In 2013 the Center for Russian Language and Regional Linguistics Researches was founded on a base of the department. Center staff published more than 30 academic articles and textbooks in 2014. Also Center staff took place in a number of international meetings to promote Russian language.
International Tolstoy readings are conducted once in two years at the Department of Russian Philology and Document Science. One of the annual events at the department is Tolstoy academic competition for high school students.
