1) General information about the department, the year of foundation
Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities was established on December 1 2008 after uniting of a number of teaching and non-teaching humanitarian majors. The faculty is dynamically developing, successfully combining traditions and innovations in the organization of the educational process.
The faculty’s educational work is characterized by:
• a combination of extensive humanitarian preparation of students with intensive study of a separate branch of the humanities;
• individual approach to educational process of every student in accordance with their talents and creative skills;
• combination of theoretical studies with practical work within creative workshops, professional trainings, practical courses, internships, etc.

6) Achievements of the Faculty
The Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies publishes on-line publication "Humanitarian journal of TSPU ‘Lev Tolstoy’ "(certificate of registration number FS77-53025 since 04.03.2013 .; ISSN-2304-4772 (included in RISC). The journal publishes of the results of basic research in the humanities (including faculty, graduate students, faculty, and students from different faculties, universities, etc.). The journal is available on the official website of Tula State Lev Tolstoy Pedagogical University (website http://tsput.ru/journals/detail.php?ID=21957), and is also available in the electronic library eLibrary: http://elibrary.ru/title_about.asp?id=37489. The chief editor of this scientific publication is E.D. Meleshko. The managing editor is A.V. Slobozhanin. The technical editor is E.G.Yakimova.
Department of Philosophy and Cultural Studies operates a research laboratory in Sociology, Cultural Tourism and Applied Ethics.
International cooperation of teachers and students of the faculty with foreign colleagues is developing successfully. Each year the exchange programs are organized for students enrolled in Social work programs and students of the Catholic Institute in Mainz (Germany).
7) Graduates
Vera Alexeevna Ilyuhina - graduate of the faculty of primary education in 1974, director of the Center of Education number 2006 in Moscow, candidate of pedagogical sciences (Ph.D.), Distinguished Teacher of Russia, awarded the title for Excellence in Public Education, recipient of the prize "Grand Prix" New School ", winner of the "Teacher of the Year -1996"(in Moscow), recipient of the Mayor of Moscow prize in Education - 2004, has the title of" Veteran of Labour ", was awarded the medal "In memory of the 850th anniversary of Moscow" and the gold medal of All-Russian exhibition Centre.
Dmitry Sergeevich Sakharov graduated from the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Child Development in 2001, candidate of biological sciences (PhD), researcher at the State Research Centre - Institute for Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Alexander Alexandrovich Sukhorukov graduated from the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Child Development in 2001 in a program "Pedagogy and methodology of primary education" with a minor in "Russian language and literature", Ph.D., deputy director of educational work municipal educational institution "Yasnopolyanskaya Lev Tolstoy gymnasium ".
Sergei Ilyich Maslov - Doctor of Education, Professor of Kaluga State Tsiolkovsky University.
Ludmila Alexandrovna Orlova - Doctor of Education, professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Primary Education of Tula State Lev Tolstoy Pedagogical University.
