Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University Kokshetau, Republic of Kazakhstan Summary. Intercultural communication today is a subject for many linguistic scholars. The article presents the main approaches to the study of these concepts as well as mutual understanding of different cultures at the communicative level. Key words: cross-cultural communication, otherwise culture, cultural shock, cultural behavior. Cross-cultural communication is a process by which representatives of different cultures not only enter into communication, but also share their knowledge, concepts and images of culture. Against the background of a different culture, there are things that were not significantly paid attention to in the native culture. Thus, language and culture change and develop, and it is in communication, in the interaction of different cultures, that the influence of one language on another occurs and their mutual enrichment is re- alized. Culture is borderline, so cultural self-knowledge is possible only with the partic- ipation of other cultures-by contrast, when they are “mutually mirrored” [1, p.139]. Intercultural communication is essential not only for the enrichment of cultures, but also for their survival. In order for the national culture to live, develop and flourish, a creative approach to the cultural values of both the present and the past is necessary.
